Bio: Dan Li is the L. Leslie Waters Chair in International Business and the Executive Associate Dean for Faculty and Research at Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. She received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2005.
Professor Li’s research focuses on global strategy, particularly in the areas of international strategic alliances, and institutional influences on activities of both established multinational enterprises and international new ventures. She has published over 50 academic articles and perspectives on these and other topics. Many of her articles were published in top-tier academic journals including the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of World Business, Journal of International Management, Global Strategy Journal, and Management International Review.
Professor Li is currently serving as an Area Editor for JIBS, and a Supervising Editor for the JIBS Special Issue “Rethinking Firm International Involvement in a Changing World of Complex Realities.” Previously, she was an Associate Editor and Special Issue Editor of Global Strategy Journal, and the Editor-in-Chief of Business Horizons which is one of the top journals bridging academic research into practical recommendations for businesses. She was the Global Strategy Track Chair/Co-Chair for the AIB conference in 2013 and 2018, and served on the Local Arrangement Committee for the AIB conference in 2007. She was involved in Women in AIB (WAIB) since its early years; between 2007 and 2015, she served first as a webmaster and later as a faculty-at-large, secretary-treasurer, and mentor, supporting women scholars and scholars interested in research on gender-related issues in international business. Professor Li teaches international strategy courses and has received several teaching recognitions.
