George YipAffiliation: Imperial College London

Bio: George S. Yip is Emeritus Professor of Marketing and Strategy and former Associate Dean for Executive Programmes at Imperial College Business School in London. He is currently also Distinguished Visiting Professor and Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Center for Emerging Markets, D’Amore-McKim School of Business, Northeastern University.  He serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of California Management Review and MIT Sloan Management Review.

He was previously a Professor of Management and Co-Director of the Centre on China innovation at China Europe International Business School; Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University; and Lead Senior Fellow of the U.K.’s Advanced Institute of Management Research. Previous business positions include VP and Director of Research & Innovation at Capgemini Consulting, senior manager at Price Waterhouse (USA), manager at Unilever, and various boards. He has held faculty positions at Harvard Business School, Cambridge and London Business School, UCLA, and visiting positions at Georgetown, Oxford, and Stanford.

George has been an active member of AIB since 1990 and a Fellow of AIB since 1999. From 2000 to 2015 he organized the annual “AIB Gurus” executive seminar as a way to raise money for AIB’s charitable purposes and to support the schools hosting the annual conference. He is Co-Executive Editor of Chinese Management Insights. He has been an Associate Editor of the Journal of International Business Studies, as well as serving on the editorial boards of Asia-Pacific Journal of Management, Business Strategy Review, Journal of International Management, Journal of International Marketing, and Long Range Planning

His book, Total Global Strategy: Managing for Worldwide Competitive Advantage was selected as one of the 30 best business books of 1992; has been published in ten languages, and updated as Total Global Strategy, 3rd edition, with Tomas Hult (2012). Other books include Asian Advantage: Key Strategies for Winning in the Asia-Pacific Region (2000) and Strategies for Central and Eastern Europe(2000) and Managing Global Customers (2008). He has published articles in journals such as California Management Review, Columbia Journal of World Business, Harvard Business Review, Journal of International Management, Journal of International Marketing, Marketing Management, Sloan Management Review, and Strategic Management Journal. 

He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from Cambridge University; and an MBA and doctorate from Harvard Business School. A native of Asia, he is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and of the United States.
