Bio: Nicole Coviello is the Lazaridis Chair of International Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Wilfrid Laurier University. Previously, she was the Research Director of the Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises. Through her career, Nicole’s other academic appointments have been in New Zealand (University of Auckland; University of Waikato), Canada (University of Calgary) and Finland (University of Turku). Her research intersects international business, marketing strategy, and entrepreneurship. She has multiple publications in the top journals of all three of these disciplines. Nicole is also co-editor of the Handbook of Measures for International Entrepreneurship Research (with Helena Yli-Renko).
In 2010, Nicole received an honorary doctorate from the Turku School of Economics. In 2014, she was ranked as the #2 scholar worldwide for International Marketing. Nicole was also ranked 18th in the world for International Business, the only female in the ‘top 20’ list for that discipline. In 2018, an international study showed her to have four of the most influential publications in International Marketing- more than any other scholar in the world. She is frequently invited to be a plenary speaker or panellist on her either research or topics designed to support junior scholars.
Nicole holds a PhD in Marketing and International Business (University of Auckland), an MSc in Technology Management (University of Saskatchewan) and a BComm Hons Marketing (University of Saskatchewan). She is Associate Editor at the Journal of Business Venturing – the premier journal for entrepreneurship research. She is also Consulting Editor at the Journal of International Business Studies and sits on numerous other editorial boards.
