Bio: Vas Taras is an Associate Professor of International Business at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He received his Ph.D. in International Human Resources and Organizational Dynamics from the University of Calgary, Canada, and his Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to joining academia, was has an entrepreneurial career in the automotive industry.
He is the founder of the X-Culture Project, which has become a platform for learning international business through experience. Dozens of companies and thousands of students from hundreds of universities in over 70 countries on all six continents take part in X-Culture every semester, and over 80,000 students have taken part in the project since its launch in 2010. His research and work revolve around cross-cultural and global virtual teams and experiential approaches to international business education. His research team is particularly interested in the potential of global crowds to solve complex problems.
He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of International Management, the International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management and Cross-Cultural Strategic Management, and Editorial Board Member of several other management journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies and the Academy of Management Review. Vas is a Fellow of the AIB Southeast USA chapter.
He has lived, worked, and studied in half a dozen countries and has experience as an academic, manager, entrepreneur, and business consultant.
