We are pleased to announce that Franklin Allen has been selected as 2023’s John Fayerweather Eminent Scholar of the Year by the Fellows of the Academy of International Business (AIB). This distinguished honor will be conferred on Professor Allen at the AIB annual international conference in Warsaw, Poland in a special panel session.

About Franklin Allen

Franklin Allen is Professor of Finance and Economics and Executive Director of the Brevan Howard Centre at Imperial College London, UK. Previously, he was a chaired professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and was Co-Director of the Wharton Financial Institutions Center.

Dr. Allen is globally famous for his work in corporate finance, financial intermediaries and institutions, and finance for development. Within this umbrella, his work also spans financial innovation, financial inclusion, banking and financial crises, and corporate governance in emerging economies. His studies in comparative financial systems and development include the US, Europe, China, India, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Allen’s wide-ranging contributions have appeared in the premier journals of both finance and economics (JPE, JET, JIT). At the time of this announcement, his works have a Google Scholar citation count of 90,828.

Franklin Allen has received numerous recognitions for his impact on the profession. He was Executive Editor of the Review of Financial Studies and Managing Editor of the Review of Finance. He is a past president of the American Finance Association, the Western Finance Association, and the Financial Management Association. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society.
