Event Overview: Firms, in their urge to broaden business scope, internationalize operations and often tend to face strategic complexities. Such “strategic” and “organizational” challenges obstruct their competitiveness in international markets. The landscape has become more chaotic post-pandemic, with a notable rise in regional tensions. Strategic considerations related to configuring and coordinating business activities, the roles of foreign subsidiaries, cross-border strategic alliances, etc. are just a few of the key decisions an organization must make while internationalizing. It has become essential for any program in international business to address such strategic issues. The relevance of these issues are further heightened by the east-west divide, global value chains, the emergence of global protectionism, digital terrorism, ESG compliances, etc.
This workshop aims to provide insights on the design and teaching of courses on International Business Strategy by providing a model course curriculum and an overview of its key pedagogic features. It will also cover aspects of evaluation and expected course outcomes.
This is the first session in a two-part workshop. The second and final session will take place on 27 September, 13:00-15:00 UTC.
