Event Overview: We are delighted to announce the next in a series of webinars organized by the Africa Chapter of the Academy of International Business. This webinar will feature two thoughtful academics, both with deep editorial experience pertaining to Africa-related research.


Amon Chizema is Professor of International Business and Corporate Governance at Loughborough University. He is also an Extraordinary Professor at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), University of Pretoria. His research has been published in leading outlets, including Strategic Management JournalJournal of Management StudiesThe Leadership QuarterlyJournal of World BusinessReview of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, and Corporate Governance: An International Review. Amon has served in an external consultant capacity to several business organisations and supranational organisations such as the African Union and the African Development Bank. He serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Management StudiesThe Leadership Quarterly, and Corporate Governance: An International Review, and is an Editor of Insight articles for the Africa Journal of Management.

Mary Teagarden is Professor of Global Strategy and Deputy Dean, Knowledge Enterprise at Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is editor-in-chief of Thunderbird International Business Review, which has a long history of publishing Africa-related research, and a Consulting Editor of Journal of International Business Studies. She is a thought leader and educator in the areas of global strategy, management of technology and innovation, and strategic human resource management, having published more than 130 articles, books, chapters, and case studies in Harvard Business ReviewAcademy of Management JournalHuman Resource ManagementAsia Pacific Journal of ManagementCalifornia Management ReviewMIT Sloan Review, and Organizational Dynamics, among others. Her research focuses on global competitiveness and capability building, with an emphasis on offshore manufacturing and service, innovation, high technology transfer, sustainable development, developing global mindset, and talent management.
