Event Overview: Inequality is about the state of not being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. It encompasses multiple dimensions such as economic disparities (e.g., income and wealth inequality), social and legal exclusion (e.g., discrimination), and opportunity gaps driven by demographic characteristics (e.g., ethnicity, gender, and religion).
In this webinar, each panelist will provide a brief research update (15 mins each) related to topics about inequalities in race, gender, etc. Topics will reflect panelists’ ongoing research or work with flexibility to highlight key trends, case studies, or regional insights. Panelists will facilitate breakout sessions, centering on their topics.
About this Event Series: This webinar is presented as the first in a series titled “Imagining a Way Forward” organized by AIB’s Emerging Markets Shared Interest Group in collaboration with the Sustainability Shared Interest Group and Women in the Academy of International Business (WAIB). This series is being planned as a set of events framed by free-flowing conversations, engaged in imagining how businesses, governments and society should interact to create a truly sustainable, equitable, secure, and safe future. The underlying premise of these conversations is that the way businesses, governments, and society have been interacting is not sufficient to handle the geopolitical and environmental challenges facing them. This series explores how business, government and societies can collaborate and shape a future that is truly sustainable and equitable. Rather than fixed presentations, these webinars are open, adaptive dialogues designed to surface diverse perspectives, bold ideas, and collaborative energy. Set against the dynamic backdrop of emerging markets, each session brings together a global community of practitioners, policy-makers, and academics to challenge assumptions and co-create new pathways forward.
