Theme: Business Value and Social Impact in Changing Local and Global Contexts

Point of Contact: Juan Bu, jbu@iu.edu

Event Overview: Business value and social impact have become increasingly important in today’s changing local and global contexts. While businesses traditionally focused on financial gains, modern businesses are now expected to operate with a broader sense of responsibility that encompasses not only financial value but also social value. This shift is driven by a growing awareness of social and environmental issues and the importance of creating a sustainable future for all. However, the creation of business value and social impact is challenged by the fast-changing business environments. The unprecedented global changes such as the Covid-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, climate change, financial crisis, and revolutionary technological development have posed both threats and opportunities to internationally operating firms. Therefore, it’s critical to develop effective strategies, governance, and structures to deal with the risks and opportunities in changing local and global contexts.

The purpose of this conference is to provide a platform for scholarly discourse on the theme of “Business Value and Social Impact in Changing Local and Global Contexts”. We welcome scholars and practitioners from around the world to join us in person, in Providence Rhode Island, during the peak of the beautiful autumn season, to discuss our theme topic and other issues relating to international business.
