Event Overview: Master’s programs in International Business (IB) and International Management (IM) are a central part of postgraduate provision. What is missing is a sector-wide baseline that allows educators and leaders to compare how programs are structured and what they claim to deliver when they invoke “innovation”, “employability”, or “responsible management education”.
This webinar shares headline findings from the AIB UK&I 2025/26 Mapping Study: a systematic review of 180 MSc IB/IM programs across 113 institutions, based on publicly available program documentation and a structured coding approach. It provides a sector-wide baseline on programme structures, curriculum configurations, capstone formats, admissions positioning, and fee models.
As author of the report, Dr Stefan Zagelmeyer will summarize the main patterns and outline implications for multiple stakeholders, including prospective students, program directors, instructors, teaching and learning leaders, and those responsible for PGT portfolio strategy. The panel will then critically discuss what the evidence implies for program design and differentiation within a constrained one-year format, including:
–Where can meaningful differentiation be achieved without sacrificing coherence?
–When does sustainability integration become assessable learning rather than signalling?
–What is gained—and what is lost—when dissertations are replaced by consultancy-style capstones?
–How defensible and sustainable are current fee levels, and what risks follow from international demand volatility?
The session is designed as a guided, interactive discussion with substantial time for audience questions and debate, aiming to leave participants with a small set of actionable takeaways for curriculum and program design.

Stefan Zagelmeyer (Alliance Manchester Business School, UK) is a Reader in Comparative and International Business at the University of Manchester (Alliance Manchester Business School). He serves as the Teaching and Education Representative on the executive board of AIB UK&I and is Programme Director for the MSc International Business and Management at AMBS. Noemi Sinkovics (Newcastle University Business School, UK) is Professor of Sustainable and Responsible Business and Associate Dean (Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability) at Newcastle University Business School, UK, and Chair of the Executive Board of the AIB UK & Ireland Chapter. Her research examines how firms balance social, environmental, and economic objectives. She is Senior Associate Editor of the European Management Journal and Associate Editor of Critical Perspectives on International Business.
Davide Castellani (Henley Business School, UK) is Head of International Business and Strategy and Professor of International Business at Henley Business School, University of Reading (UK), and a former Chair of the Executive Board of the AIB UK & Ireland Chapter. His research spans International Business, International Trade, and Economic Geography, with publications in outlets including JIBS, the Journal of International Economics, Regional Studies, and Research Policy.
Hinrich Voss (University of Bristol Business School, UK) is Chair in International Business Management at the University of Bristol Business School (UK). His research focuses on multinational enterprises, institutional environments, and emerging-economy multinationals, including risk and global governance challenges, alongside work on global value chains and business and human rights. He received the AIB Teaching Innovation Award (2023) and a JIBS Decade Award (2017).
