Creating an Inclusive IB Community

Finances should never be an obstacle to knowledge. That’s why AIB and our affiliated organizations have set aside special funding each year to help students and low-income members cover the costs of attending our annual meeting. Each of these awards has a unique set of eligibility requirements—read through the descriptions below to see if you qualify.

Doctoral Travel Stipends

Eligibility: These stipends are available for full-time Ph.D. students who plan to attend a pre-conference consortium (especially the Doctoral Consortium) and/or have a paper accepted for presentation at the annual meeting.

Overview: Successful applicants for our doctoral travel stipends will receive

  1. A complimentary conference registration
  2. A lodging allowance at a designated hotel for the duration of the conference (directly paid by AIB to the hotel)

Application: Our online application form requires students to provide both a one-page CV and a letter of recommendation from their academic advisor. Applicants will have the option to upload the recommendation letter themselves or designate an advisor who will email their letter to AIB on the applicant’s behalf. All recommendation letters must be received by the application deadline in order for a student’s travel stipend request to be considered complete.

WAIB Helping Hand Award

Eligibility: This award is open to female full-time faculty members and doctoral students who have had a paper accepted to AIB’s Annual Meeting on which they are first or second author. Eligible applicants must also meet AIB’s low-income threshold of less than $25,000 annual gross income.

Overview: Successful applicants for this award will receive $500 in travel funding. Those selected to receive this support must commit to assist in the running of WAIB conference events and to attend the WAIB awards ceremony.

The Helping Hands Award is made possible through the generous donations of WAIB members.

Deadline: March 15, 2020
