Who is This Event For?

Are you keen on using high quality videos and other digital media for your teaching? Are you looking for ideas how to make video content enhance the quality of your students’ learning experience?  Are you yourself interested in contributing to creating such videos? This professional development workshop is open to both faculty and senior doctoral students participating in the AIB 2020 Online conference.

What Will I Learn From This Workshop?

This workshop is structured around three major takeaways:

  1. How do we effectively use such media in international business, where contextual intelligence is a key development goal for the pedagogy? The advent of YouTube and other such digital platforms is opening up a great opportunity for teaching and research.
  2. How can IB scholars collaborate to create media libraries such as HBS’ Creating Emerging Markets Database? We will use the collection of 126 interviews with high-level entrepreneurs and business leaders from emerging markets, produced by workshop organizers Tarun Khanna and Geoffrey Jones, to illustrate the process.
  3. How can you create a digitally enhanced teaching session for your IB class? Technology is making the creation of such digital tools relatively inexpensive and doable by faculty. We will address topics relevant for faculty who are interested in building and developing such videos.

How Should I Register and Prepare for This Workshop?

Please complete the official workshop registration form by June 24, 2020.

The event organizers will follow up to provide you links to access a set of materials based on “Creating Emerging Markets” sources and some readings to help you prepare for the workshop. They will also ask you to complete a short assignment (a 30-minute commitment) before you join them for the online workshop.

Please note: Participants will also need to be registered for the AIB 2020 Annual Meeting with an AIB membership valid through July 9, 2020 in order to take part in this workshop.
