Rule-of-Three

No person may be associated (as author, co-author, or panelist) with more than three submissions for an AIB Conference. Therefore, please make sure to coordinate with your co-authors before submitting a manuscript to the conference to ensure that they do not violate the Rule-of-Three as a result of your submission. Please note that this rule does not apply to appearances in pre-conference activities (e.g., workshops, consortia, or chapter meetings), invited (by the program committee) appearances at plenaries or special sessions, session chairs or discussants, or listings resulting from AIB officer roles.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism in any of the forms described below is a violation of AIB’s Code of Ethics. All instances of plagiarism in submissions to our Annual Meeting will be reported and addressed in accordance with the procedures in that Code.

1. Plagiarism: In publications, presentations, teaching, practice, and service, AIB members should explicitly identify, credit, and reference the author when they take data or material verbatim from another person’s written work, whether it is published, unpublished, or electronically available, and acknowledge and reference the use of others’ work, even if the work is not quoted verbatim or paraphrased, and they should not present others’ work as their own.
2. Self-Plagiarism: Authors should minimize their recycling of previous writings. Redundancy (self-plagiarism) occurs where authors recycle portions of their previous writings in subsequent research papers without quotation or acknowledgement, or where authors create multiple papers that are slight variations on each other and submitted for publication in different journals without acknowledgement of the other papers. Since publication decisions are influenced by the novelty and innovativeness of manuscripts, such deception is inappropriate and unethical.

Registration Policy

For All Attendees: AIB does not offer day passes to attend its Annual Meeting. Full registration is required, even if you are planning to participate for just one day.  All participants in conference and/or pre-conference activities, including authors, editors, panelists, chairs, moderators, and discussants must register for the conference by paying the appropriate rates.

Conference registration provides attendees full access to the Annual Meeting, with the exception of invitation-only sessions, board meetings, workshops, and activities requiring separate enrollment. Registrants can attend workshops and activities requiring additional registration only if they have a confirmed invitation to attend. Conference registration is non-transferable and does not include the annual AIB membership fee; an active AIB membership valid through the conference dates is required to register for the Annual Meeting.

For Presenters: All participants in AIB’s Annual Meeting and/or pre-conference activities must be registered by June 15, 2020. This includes all authors, editors, panelists, chairs, moderators, and discussants.

For Invited Speakers: Industry representatives invited to speak at panels may be provided limited session access. Please contact membership@aib.msu.edu to arrange registration in this case. If industry participants wish to participate in other sessions, we ask that they register for the conference as a regular participant.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that members who have registered for the conference may have to cancel their registrations due to unforeseen circumstances. While we try to accommodate cancellations to the best of our ability, any cancellation, especially late ones, put AIB at a difficult situation. Due to the size of our conference, we make many of our arrangements well in advance and therefore cancellations come with a cost to AIB. Therefore, the AIB Board has developed a cancellation policy to balance the needs of our members with the costs of cancellation to AIB. As such, please note that cancellation requests for an already confirmed registration will be processed according to the following schedule:

June 15: 100% refund
After June 15: No refunds available

No Show Policy

AIB, in common with many other academic associations, enforces a “no show” policy. This policy applies to all chapter meetings of AIB, as well as to global AIB meetings, including the Annual Meeting. At least one author of any accepted paper to the conference must register, attend, and present at the conference. Unless there are exceptional and extenuating circumstances, those who violate this policy will appear in the “no show” list.

This list is available to all AIB conference organizers and the violator will receive an official notification for being a “no show”. Repeat violators of the “no show” policy (i.e., those who violate this policy in two of three consecutive years or have a history of violation) will be excluded from participation in AIB-related conferences for the subsequent 12 months, following the most recent violation.

This policy is necessary because every year many papers have to be rejected by reason of the limited space in the conference program. Violators of the “no show” policy are performing a professional discourtesy to their colleagues by wasting valuable space in the conference program.

Photo & Video Policy

By participating in an event or program of the Academy of International Business (AIB), you are entering an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur.

Your presence in AIB’s online event platform constitutes your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction of any and all recorded media of your appearance, voice, and name for any purpose whatsoever in perpetuity in connection with AIB and its initiatives, including, by way of example only, use on websites, in social media, news, and advertising.

By logging into the event platform, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of you at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or for any fees for use of such record media.
