What is the Purpose of This Workshop?

Academic conferences and publishing depend on quality peer reviews. As individuals, we learn to write and engage in scholarly debates through the work we do as reviewers. To recognize the importance of reviewing and encourage quality reviews, the AIB community will offer a workshop on peer reviews as part of the Junior Faculty Consortium on 6 July.

How Can I Participate in This Workshop?

Parts 1 and 3 of this workshop will be open to all AIB 2023 attendees. Session recordings will also be made available to AIB members post-conference.

To participate in part 2 of this workshop, you must be an accepted applicant to one of the following pre-conference programs: JIBS PDW, JIBP PDW, Doctoral Consortium, Junior Faculty Consortium, Senior and Mid-Career Faculty Consortium, and CEE Conference.

How is This Event Structured?

The workshop will consist of three parts: 1) an opening plenary session, featuring a dialogue with journal editors-in-chief and scholars who have a track record of exemplary reviewing, 2) a small-group roundtable discussion, facilitated by journal editors, about how to go about producing a constructive review and 3) a concluding panel session on the ethics of reviewing.
