What is the Purpose of This Workshop?

This Paper Development Workshop (PDW) is offered as a joint initiative of key journals that publish IB research. While we hope that many of the participating papers will eventually be submitted to IB journals, the purpose of the PDW is broader: to improve the quality of IB research by providing quality feedback, to help participants make informed decisions about which journals to target, and to bring new scholars into the field.

Who is This Event For?

This PDW is open to all scholars, but preference is given to doctoral students and early-career academics. Co-Editors, Associate Editors, and of Editorial Review Board Members of the participating journals will provide detailed feedback to the authors in a roundtable discussion format. The workshop will also invite peer feedback from the other participants to offer a rich developmental experience to the authors.

How is This Event Structured?

There will be two parts to this PDW:

  • Part 1 will introduce workshop participants to the IB journal ecosystem and to the journals hosting the workshop: European Journal of International Management, Global Strategy Journal, International Business Review, Management International Review, and Journal of World Business.
  • Part 2 provides scholars with developmental feedback on their current papers and research projects.

How Can I Make a Submission to this PDW?

Prospective participants in the 2023 IB Journals PDW are invited to submit their paper manuscripts via the AIB submission system by April 14, 2023. Each participant may submit only one manuscript for the PDW. The cover page of the manuscript should include all authors’ names, e-mails, and affiliations.

Manuscripts will be selected based on the fit with the journal and the quality of their submitted work. Authors will be notified about the acceptance of their submissions by May 2, 2023. Participants will be required to register for the AIB 2023 meeting.

What Should I do if my Paper is Accepted?

Notifications of acceptance will be sent to all applicants by 2 May 2023. Authors who have had their papers accepted must confirm their participation in this PDW with the event organizers by 29 May 2023.
