SUMMARY:AIB US Northeast 2026 Chapter Conference
DESCRIPTION:download full cfp\nregister now (aib membership required)\nConference Theme: Rethinking Global Strategy: Adaptation\, Resilience\, and Renewal \nExtended Submission Deadline: 8 August 2026 (Formerly 1 August) \nEarly Bird Registration Deadline: 2 September 2026\nRegular Registration Deadline: 16 September 2026 \nPoint of Contact: Soni Jha\, aibne2026@pfw.edu \nEvent Overview: Uncertainty is a chronic\, structural feature of the global economy. Today’s global businesses operate in a world of true uncertainty that cannot be reliably predicted\, priced\, or planned for\, a condition that is fundamentally distinct from measurable risk (Knight\, 1921). For decades\, most global businesses have ignored this reality. They pursued hyper-efficient global strategies\, treating resilience as a cost to cut rather than a capability to build (Sheffi & Rice Jr.\, 2005). Recently\, the pandemic and the escalation of geopolitical tensions have shattered this complacency\, revealing how quickly optimized global operations can become points of vulnerability. This has compelled global businesses to rethink the foundations of global strategy\, emphasizing adaptation and renewal rather than efficiency alone. International business scholars had long anticipated this shift. Buckley and Casson (1998) cautioned us that strategic flexibility under uncertainty would prove central to international business theories\, arguing that firms must balance the efficiency gains of global coordination with the costly but essential capacity to adapt when conditions shift. Luo (2000) anticipated that global businesses would need to go beyond mere survival and proactively build adaptive capacity to convert turbulence into competitive advantage. This year’s conference theme\, ‘Rethinking Global Strategy: Adaptation\, Resilience\, and Renewal\,’ is a homage to the prescient thinking of these IB scholars. We invite scholars and practitioners to explore how multinational firms can design strategies that are inherently resilient\, continuously adaptive\, and oriented toward long-term renewal in an era of persistent change. \nThe possibilities for exploring how global businesses can build resilient strategies and adapt to persistent uncertainty are vast. A growing body of research shows that resilience is not a single capability but a system of them. Agility\, redundancy\, collaboration\, and a deeply embedded culture of risk awareness together enable firms to sense\, adapt\, and transform in the face of shifting global conditions (Ponomarov and Holcomb\, 2009; Tukamuhabwa\, Stevenson\, Busby\, and Zorzini\, 2015). At the same time\, Industry 4.0 technologies are reshaping what resilience looks like in practice. Artificial intelligence\, big data analytics\, and digital twins are giving firms the power to anticipate disruptions before they strike\, not merely react after the damage is done (Lücker\, Timonina-Farkas\, and Seifert\, 2025). At this year’s conference\, we will bring together leading researchers\, business leaders\, and policymakers to examine how organizations are harnessing these capabilities to renew their global strategies\, e.g.\, reconfiguring supply networks\, investing in adaptive capacity\, cultivating collaborative ecosystems\, and pursuing new models of sustainable international growth. Boston is a city of intellectual restlessness\, a place where competing visions of the future collide and where the tension between established ways and radical renewal is a defining feature of its character (James\, 1886). Suffolk University will host participants from around the globe to engage with the forward-looking strategic questions that will define the next era of international business.\n \nAIB US Northeast is one of thirteen regional chapters of the Academy of International Business (AIB). Our region stretches from Maine to Virginia along the Northeast coast of the US. and the central states\, including Illinois\, Indiana\, Michigan\, Ohio\, and Wisconsin. We are the largest US Chapter in the AIB community of scholars and practitioners. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for interaction and sharing ideas for researching\, teaching\, and practicing international business among our members. One of our main venues for this purpose is our annual conference.

SUMMARY:AIB Central and Eastern Europe 2026 Chapter Conference
DESCRIPTION:register now (aib membership required)\ndownload full cfp\nvisit event host’s website\nEarly Bird Registration Deadline: 17 July 2026\nRegular Registration Deadline: 14 August 2026\nLate Registration Deadline: 11 September 2026 \nRegistration Policy: An active AIB membership will be required to access the registration form for this event. If you are not a current member of AIB or your membership is set to expire prior to 23 November 2026\, you must purchase or renew your membership before registering for the 2026 AIB Central and Eastern Europe Chapter Conference. Membership transactions may take up to 3 business days to process\, so please take that into consideration if you are interested in having your registration transaction processed by a particular date. \nConference Theme: Central and Eastern Europe in Transition Again? Rethinking International Business in a Changing World \nEvent Overview: More than three decades after the collapse of state socialism\, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) remains a region of strong interest for international business scholarship. Once seen as a “natural laboratory” for studying institutional change and firm adaptation\, CEE is now facing a new wave of geopolitical\, technological\, and sustainability-related challenges\, which raise fundamental questions about the region’s evolving role in international business. \nAgainst this backdrop\, the 12th AIB-CEE Chapter Annual Conference invites scholars\, practitioners\, and policymakers to revisit whether – and how – CEE continues to offer distinctive insights for international business theory and practice. The conference will explore macro-\, meso-\, and micro-level dynamics shaping firms and institutions in the region\, including geopolitical uncertainty\, institutional diversity\, upgrading trajectories\, innovation\, and changing business models. \nHosted by the Poznań University of Economics and Business as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations\, the conference aims to foster dialogue on the relevance of CEE as a laboratory for understanding international business in an era of global fragmentation and transformation. During the conference\, you will have the opportunity to meet distinguished AIB Scholars\, including Sarianna Lundan (Aalto University\, Finland) Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (Northeastern University\, USA)\, Ari Van Assche (HEC Montreal\, Canada)\, Matt Raskovic (Auckland University of Technology\, New Zealand).

SUMMARY:2026 AIB South Asia Workshop Series: Teaching International Business Strategy
DESCRIPTION:visit the 2026 south asia workshop series website\nregister now\n\nDates & Times:\n12 September 2026\, 13:00-15:00 UTC (View Local Time)\n19 September 2026\, 13:00-15:00 UTC (View Local Time) \nRegistration Deadline: 10 September 2026 \nHost: AIB South Asia Chapter \nPoint of Contact: Shankari Chidambaram (aibsac@iimb.ac.in) \nCertificate Policy: Current AIB members will receive a Digital Certificate of Participation for full video attendance of this workshop’s Zoom sessions. \n\n\nEvent Overview: Bringing “Strategy” into the classroom is an art: the delivery must blend concepts with practice and reflect the contemporariness of the domain. Teaching “International Business Strategy (IBS)” further requires dwelling on cross-border issues and developing a nuanced global mindset. It is often felt that strategy is primarily for top management\, with students and even faculty reducing it to handling various frameworks—from SWOT to BSC. Such perceptions make teaching IBS even more challenging. \nIn most business schools\, the basic course on Strategy is taught before IBS\, which makes the faculty’s task of sustaining participant interest even more demanding. In this two-session workshop\, it is proposed to help existing and aspiring faculty in conceptualizing a course on IBS through: \n• Suggested modules and a model course curriculum\n• Guidance on class preparation\, pedagogy\, and positioning the course\n• Clarity on credits\, evaluation\, and expected course outcomes \nGiven the current geopolitical landscape\, a separate\, well-designed course on IBS will significantly enrich students’ learning of strategy and its application in international contexts. \nThis workshop will be useful to: \n• Faculty members who are teaching or are likely to take up teaching International Business Strategy–related courses\n• Scholars who wish to develop expertise for research work in this area\n• In-house trainers who may benefit from the framework for organizing training programs on international business strategy in their organizations \n\n\n\nWORKSHOP LEADER \nDr. K. Rangarajan is Professor of Strategy at IIFT and heading the Kolkata Campus of IIFT \nProf. Rangarajan has more than 25 years of professional experience in teaching\, consulting\, research\, and academic administration\, including four years of industry experience at an MNC. He has traveled widely on academic assignments across the United Kingdom\, United States\, and Asia Pacific\, and has lectured on strategic issues at various national and international forums. \nHe has been faculty for numerous MDPs for both policymakers and industry\, coordinated with SMEs on strategic issues\, and served as National Expert for UNIDO\, Austria (Innovation in Textiles Industry Project) and for UNIDO evaluation missions in India. He has conducted a research study on “Implications of EU and US GSP Rules of Origin on the Exports of Indian Textiles and Clothing Industry” for the Commonwealth Secretariat\, UK\, and writes regularly on sectoral issues in national dailies and refereed journals

SUMMARY:AIB Chapter-SIG Webinar: Keeping IB Curriculum Content Current in Times of Rapid Geopolitical Change
DESCRIPTION:register now\n\nDate & Time: 10 September 2026\, 12:30 UTC (View Local Time) \nHosts: AIB United Kingdom & Ireland Chapter and AIB Teaching & Education Shared Interest Group \nPoint of Contact: Stefan Zagelmeyer (S.Zagelmeyer@manchester.ac.uk) \n\nEvent Overview: International business and management students now operate in a fast-moving\, volatile and contested information environment. Geopolitical disruption\, disinformation\, platform-driven attention cycles and declining trust in public knowledge make it increasingly difficult to separate signal from noise. At the same time\, sanctions\, industrial policy\, technology restrictions\, supply-chain disruption and political risk must often be interpreted in real time\, before academic research has fully caught up. As a result\, keeping IB curricula current and developing students’ information literacy\, including their ability to source\, evaluate\, triangulate and communicate evidence amid competing narratives and contested facts\, have become central educational challenges. \nThis webinar will address both challenges. Andrew Jack\, Global Education Editor at the Financial Times\, will discuss which IB topics now need reframing in response to rapid geopolitical change and introduce FT resources for educators\, including Ask FT\, Professor Picks\, mini cases\, and wider FT coverage\, as practical tools for keeping courses current. He will also compare journalistic and academic sources as forms of evidence and explain how quality control works in professional journalism. The presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion with substantial time for audience questions\, including:\n \n-Which IB topics\, concepts or case logics may now mislead students and therefore need reframing? \n-How can high-quality journalism and curated media resources be used in IB teaching to build capability rather than simply add current examples? \n-How do journalistic and academic sources differ as evidence\, and how should students learn to assess and triangulate them? \n-How can information literacy be embedded and assessed as a core IB curriculum capability? \nThe session is designed as a guest presentation followed by a moderated audience Q&A\, aiming to leave participants with a set of practical\, immediately usable resources and ideas for keeping their IB teaching current and credible. \n\nGUEST SPEAKER \nAndrew Jack is Global Education Editor at the Financial Times\, where he covers education internationally and leads the FT’s free access programmes for schools and universities. He has been with the FT since 1990 and has held senior editorial and reporting roles\, including head of the curated content team\, pharmaceuticals correspondent\, Moscow bureau chief\, Paris correspondent and financial correspondent. He is the author of Inside Putin’s Russia and The French Exception\, and regularly provides commentary for the BBC and other media. \nHOST AND MODERATOR \nStefan Zagelmeyer is Reader in Comparative and International Business at the University of Manchester and Teaching and Education Representative on the AIB UK&I executive board. His related blogpost\, “Navigating Business Information at Speed: Independent Journalism\, Ask FT and Information Literacy in Management Education” \, examines the role of independent\, high-quality journalism as a form of evidence in management education.

SUMMARY:2026 AIB South Asia Workshop Series: Publishing South Asia-Focused Research in Top Management and International Business Journals
DESCRIPTION:visit the 2026 south asia workshop series website\nregister now\n\nDate & Time: 29 August 2026\, 13:00-14:30 UTC (View Local Time) \nRegistration Deadline: 28 August 2026 \nHost: AIB South Asia Chapter \nPoint of Contact: Shankari Chidambaram (aibsac@iimb.ac.in) \nCertificate Policy: Current AIB members will receive a Digital Certificate of Participation for full video attendance of this workshop’s Zoom session. \n\n\nEvent Overview: This session is designed for doctoral students and early-career faculty who conduct research on management and international business (IB) topics in South Asia and aim to publish in the world’s leading journals—primarily based in the U.S. and Europe. Although Western academic journals have become more open to research from developing-country contexts\, significant challenges remain for scholars working in or on South Asia. \nParticipants are expected to come prepared to share their experiences with carrying out and publishing South Asia–focused research in top-tier outlets. In particular\, attendees should bring: \n• A concise list of challenges they have encountered (e.g.\, building theory from context-rich data\, addressing reviewer concerns about generalizability\, navigating access to field sites\, positioning qualitative work for mainstream IB/management journals)\n• Strategies they have tried—or are considering—to overcome these hurdles \nThe speaker will share parallel insights drawn from four decades of research and editorial experience\, with special attention to publishing qualitative studies. Two sample articles will be provided in advance; participants are asked to skim them before the workshop to facilitate an informed\, practice-oriented discussion. \n\n\n\nWORKSHOP LEADER \nRavi Ramamurti is University Distinguished Professor of International Business & Strategy and Founding Director of the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University. He got his MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad (gold medalist) and his DBA from Harvard University. He studies strategy and innovation in emerging markets. Ravi has been a visiting professor at Harvard Business School\, the Wharton School\, MIT-Sloan School\, the Fletcher School\, CEIBS-Shanghai\, and IMD-Switzerland. He was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business in 2008 and has served as Deputy Dean of the AIB Fellows (2020-2023). His nine books include three published by Cambridge University Press on the internationalization of emerging-market firms\, and one published by HBR Press on reverse innovation in healthcare. A Stanford study includes Ravi among the Top-2% of all scientists in the world based on citations\, and he is among the top-5 most cited scholars working on emerging markets. Ravi has studied or consulted with dozens of public and private firms in 20 emerging economies\, and has been a consultant to several international organizations\, including serving as chief consultant to the World Bank’s board on its privatization strategy in developing countries. He has published in the leading management journals\, such as Academy of Management Review\, Academy of Management Executive\, Journal of International Business Studies\, and Management Science\, as well as practitioner-oriented journals\, such as Business Horizons\, California Management Review\, and Harvard Business Review. His other passion is building the research and outreach programs of the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University.

SUMMARY:Special Theme Conference: SME Internationalization in the AI Era
DESCRIPTION:download full cfp\n\nExtended Abstract Submission Deadline: 30 May 2026\nFull Paper Submission Deadline: 15 June 2026 \nRegistration Deadline: 6 July 2026 \nHosts: AIB Asia Pacific Chapter\, Zhejiang University of Technology. East China University of Science and Technology\, and University of San Francisco \nPoint of Contact: zjutaib2026@163.com \nSubmission Guidelines: We invite submissions of original\, unpublished academic papers. Manuscripts should be submitted in English or Chinese (for the Chinese track). Please format papers according to Management World (for Chinese manuscripts) or Journal of International Business Studies (for English manuscripts) style guidelines. Please indicate in the email subject line: “AIB 2026 Special Conference Submission + First Author’s Name.” Submissions should be sent to: zjutaib2026_sub@163.com. \nEvent Overview: Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents a foundational technology underpinning the current wave of global scientific\, technological\, and industrial transformation. Emerging innovations—including generative AI\, large-scale models\, and intelligent manufacturing—are restructuring global value chains and catalyzing a transition toward “Intelligent Globalization.” Through enhanced cross-border resource optimization and the reduction of market-entry barriers\, AI enables small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate more actively in international economic networks. As AI-driven digital tools evolve into critical components of global economic infrastructure\, the internationalization of SMEs has reached a decisive inflection point. Given their role as dynamic nodes of innovation\, employment\, and sustainable growth\, SMEs constitute an essential conduit for promoting equitable and inclusive globalization. \nHowever\, opportunities and challenges coexist in the AI era. While AI makes information a key factor of production and helps SMEs to neutralize the channel advantages traditionally held by large incumbents\, the uneven diffusion of technology creates a new “intelligence divide.” Meanwhile\, data compliance\, algorithm governance\, and IP disputes increase global uncertainty. This raises urgent questions for scholars and practitioners: How have the drivers of SME internationalization changed in the AI era? How does AI empower global business models and technological innovation? How can SMEs build digital-intelligent resilience amid geopolitical and technological competition? \nIn view of this\, the AIB Asia Pacific Chapter\, together with Zhejiang University of Technology\, East China University of Science and Technology\, and the University of San Francisco\, USA\, will hold a special conference on “SME Internationalization in the AI Era” on July 11–12\, 2026\, at Zhejiang University of Technology (Moganshan Campus)\, Huzhou\, China. We warmly welcome scholars\, policymakers\, and industry leaders worldwide to join us for high-level dialogues and to explore SMEs’ global pathways in the AI era. \nThe conference is committed to providing participants with a high-level platform for academic and practical exchanges. We welcome submissions on any topics related to firm internationalization\, cross-border operations\, and innovation management in the context of artificial intelligence. We particularly encourage theoretical research and practical cases sharing that focus on SMEs as the research context.

The continent’s unique economic\, social\, and institutional contexts offer invaluable empirical insights for advancing international business scholarship and challenging established paradigms in management science. With a combined GDP exceeding US$3 trillion\, the world’s youngest population\, and a demonstrated ability to leapfrog traditional development models\, Africa is undoubtedly emerging as a critical player in shaping the future of global business. \nAgainst this background\, the 2026 AIB Africa conference provides a platform to advance business understanding by combining academic rigor with practical insights\, leveraging Africa’s rich business contexts to develop knowledge that is both theoretically sound and practically relevant. The conference addresses the reality that uncertainty has become the new constant in global commerce. Rather than viewing volatility as an obstacle\, we will examine how African markets\, entrepreneurs\, and institutions are developing adaptive strategies\, resilient business models\, and innovative approaches that not only transform the continent but also offer valuable lessons for global business leaders navigating an increasingly complex world. With 54 independent countries – each with a unique institutional framework – and demonstrated capacity for innovative business models\, Africa offers unparalleled opportunities for rigorous academic inquiry and the development of theory. \nThrough a program that integrates scholarly presentations with practitioner panels\, the conference will feature keynote addresses from leading international business (IB) academics\, CEOs of major organizations\, and policy makers\, research workshops led by renowned scholars\, executive roundtables facilitated by industry leaders\, and collaborative sessions that bring together academics and practitioners to address complex business challenges. This hybrid approach aims to facilitate academic contributions that are both practically relevant and advance theoretical understanding through business insights.

SUMMARY:AIB Canada 2026 Chapter Conference
DESCRIPTION:download full cfp\nregister now (active AIB membership required)\n\nRegistration Policy: An active AIB membership is required to access the registration form for this event. If you are not a current member of AIB or your membership is set to expire prior to 23 May 2026\, you must purchase or renew your membership before registering for the 2026 AIB Canada Chapter Conference. Membership transactions may take up to 3 business days to process\, so please take that into consideration if you are interested in having your registration transaction processed by a particular date. \nSubmission Deadline: 6 February 2026 (Formerly 30 January)\n \nRegistration Deadline for Presenters: 17 March 2026\n \nPoint of Contact: Cagdas Kilic (cagdas_kilic@sfu.ca) \nTheme: Global Strategy\, Sustainability\, and Mobility in a Changing World Order \nEvent Overview: Geopolitical rivalry\, technological competition\, and pressures for clean energy transition are redefining the international business environment for multinational enterprises. Governments are exerting stronger influence over corporate behavior through techno-nationalism and strategic industrial policies—ranging from investment incentives to export restrictions—marking a shift away from liberal economic models toward a new era of economic statecraft. These transformations create both challenges and opportunities\, reshaping how firms invest\, innovate\, and collaborate across borders. They have profound implications for the global mobility of capital\, technology\, and talent amid rising protectionism\, regionalization\, and environmental constraints. On the human side of international business\, advances in technology\, coupled with increasing restrictions on labour market mobility\, are inviting a fundamental rethinking of how work is conducted on a global scale. Leading across countries in a way that fosters innovation and resilience demands navigating pluralistic values and contested narratives in hybrid work settings. \nThis conference explores how geopolitical rivalry\, state intervention\, and sustainability imperatives intersect to reshape multinational strategy and global talent management. We particularly welcome research examining the cross-border investment\, innovation\, and environmental implications of these global shifts\, as well as studies focused on strategic industries such as new energy\, high technology\, and critical minerals. Further\, we welcome submissions that examine the evolving landscape of global talent management in the face of growing uncertainty and intensifying political\, social\, and cultural polarization\, whilst also addressing the need for decent\, meaningful work and sustainable careers.

SUMMARY:2026 JIBS-Tsinghua University Paper Development Workshop
DESCRIPTION:download full cfp\n\nPlease Note: All deadlines and schedules related to this event are listed in China Standard Time (CST). \nExtended Submission Deadline: 15 March 2026\nAcceptance Notifications: 31 March 2026\nExtended Registration Deadline: 2 May 2026 (Formerly 15 April) \nPoints of Contact: Ke Rong (r@mail.tsinghua.edu.cn); Ludan Wu (ludanwu@tsinghua.edu.cn) \n\nEvent Overview: The Asia Pacific region\, particularly China\, has witnessed a significant surge in IB research activities and output. This has been fueled\, in part at least\, by rapid digital transformation\, the diffusion of artificial intelligence\, and evolving geopolitical developments that have altered the dynamics and nature of international business. Despite this growth\, structured professional development opportunities for scholars in the region remain scarce. This JIBS-THU PDW seeks to address this gap by providing emerging scholars with rigorous developmental feedback and editorial mentorship from JIBS editors\, thereby enhancing the academic quality and global visibility of IB scholarship originating from the region. SUMMARY:Special Theme Conference: New Connections in International Business
DESCRIPTION:download full cfp\nvisit event website\n\nSubmission Deadline: 30 December 2025 \nSend Submissions to: zju-aib2026@zju.edu.cn \nHosts: School of Management and the Tsingshan Institute for Advanced Business Studies\, Zhejiang University. \nPoint of Contact: 0924235@zju.edu.cn \nOverview: In 2017\, ‘The Determinants of Chinese Outward Foreign Direct Investment\,’ published by Peter Buckley and co-authors in 2007\, was the 2017 AIB JIBS Decade Award Winner. Almost 20 years on from this publication we are in a very different global environment. Geopolitical disruption\, technical change and economic turbulence are challenging the resilience of MNEs to adapt. At the same time\, China has evolved to become a leading innovation nation and a key player in the global economy. \nThis conference will be an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of China and Chinese firms in the international arena\, but we welcome papers across the IB studies field\, with a preference for our key themes listed in our Call for Papers. \nZhejiang University\, Hangzhou city and Zhejiang Province are recognised as innovation leaders\, the birthplace of entrepreneurial firms from Alibaba and Geely to DeepSeek. 107 of the top 500 Chinese private enterprises are based in the province. Appropriately\, our first conference theme (below) is international innovation and entrepreneurship in the digital era. This includes\, but extends beyond digital internationalisation\, digital platforms and AI as new enablers for international expansion and managing global businesses. \nConfirmed speakers include Peter Buckley (Manchester Alliance Business School)\, Grazia Santangelo (Copenhagen Business School)\, Yadong Luo (UM Herbert Business School)\, Torben Pedersen (Copenhagen Business School)\, Jiatao (JT) Li (HKUST)\, Xufei Ma (CUHK Business School)\, Changqi Wu (Guanghua School of Management).

SUMMARY:AIB Chapter-SIG Webinar: Blockchain and AI in International Business: What Can We Learn from Practitioners?
DESCRIPTION:register now\n\nDate & Time: 23 March 2026\, 12:00 UTC (View Local Time) \nHosts: AIB Digitalization Shared Interest Group and AIB UK & Ireland Chapter \nPoint of Contact: Aušrinė Šilenskytė (ausrine.silenskyte@uwasa.fi) \nEvent Recording Access: Current AIB members will be able to access a recording of this event in the “AIB Video Archive” section of our login portal. New webinar recordings are typically posted within five business days of the original event date. \n\nEvent Overview: This webinar explores how blockchain and artificial intelligence are shaping international business in practice\, drawing on direct engagement with practitioners embedded in diverse blockchain ecosystems. Instead of focusing on technological promise\, the session examines how practitioners actually deploy these technologies across borders\, value chains\, and platforms. We intend to understand what this means for international business research\, theory development\, and engagement with practice. In doing so\, the webinar aims to surface empirical insights and conceptual blind spots that can inform future international business research agendas. \nParticipants will gain insight into how blockchain’s diverse architectures influence trust\, coordination\, and transparency in global networks\, with implications for theorizing internationalization\, governance\, and digital value creation. The session also examines the growing convergence of blockchain and AI\, highlighting emerging opportunities alongside practical\, sustainability\, and ethical considerations that are salient for international business research and theory development. To bridge academic perspectives with the realities of technological implementation\, the webinar features guests from industry who share their views of how these tools are used\, where they generate value\, and where challenges persist. \nA distinctive feature of the webinar is its facilitated dialogue between scholars and practitioners. Alongside academic perspectives\, managers from different blockchain ecosystems will share first-hand experiences of implementation\, experimentation\, and limits of the technology. This will open up space for discussion on how international business scholarship can better engage with\, learn from\, and inform emerging digital practices. \nThe event builds on themes emerging from a recent special issue in the European Journal of International Management (Šilenskytė\, Sinkovics\, and Kuivalainen 2025)\, offering a timely and grounded conversation for scholars\, practitioners\, and anyone interested in the future of global business. \n  \n\nPANELISTS \nHelena Rebane is an executive leader in applied AI and the CEO of AddSearch\, an AI-powered search and discovery platform supporting organisations in improving information access and digital experiences. SUMMARY:AIB Latin America and the Caribbean 2026 Chapter Conference
DESCRIPTION:download full cfp\nregister now (current aib members only)\n\nEarly Bird Registration Deadline: 15 January 2026\nExtended Regular Registration Deadline: 24 February 2026 (Formerly 17 February) \nRegistration Policy: An active AIB membership is required to access the registration form for this event. If you are not a current member of AIB or your membership is set to expire prior to 5 March 2026\, you must purchase or renew your membership before registering for the 2026 AIB LAC Chapter Conference. Membership transactions may take up to 3 business days to process\, so please take that into consideration if you are interested in registering prior to our Early Bird or Regular registration deadlines. \nTheme: MNEs’ Responsibilities and Contributions to the Social and Economic Development of the Region \nPoint of Contact: Clarice Kogut\, clarice.kogut@iag.puc-rio.br \nEvent Overview: Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have undergone multiple cycles of economic development. While commodity exports primarily drove the region’s initial growth\, it has progressively transitioned towards more advanced and complex models of economic expansion. Nevertheless\, this evolution has consistently been hindered by persistent challenges\, including stagnant macroeconomic performance and limited economic and trade openness. During the 1990s and 2000s\, policy focus in the LAC region centred on achieving macroeconomic stability and promoting growth. These efforts have made the region increasingly attractive to foreign direct investment (FDI)\, primarily driven by multinational enterprises (MNEs). \nGiven the central and expected role of MNEs in shaping the international competitiveness of the LAC region\, there is a pressing need for research examining the complex interrelations between MNE strategies and the region’s economic\, social\, and environmental development. The AIB Latin America and the Caribbean 2026 Chapter Conference aims to foster academic debate regarding the contributions of MNEs to regional development and the consequent implications for policy and practice.

SUMMARY:AIB SIG Webinar: Archival Research as a Tool for Advancing International Business Scholarship
DESCRIPTION:register now\n\nDate & Time: 11 February 2026\, 13:30 UTC (View Local Time) \nHosts: AIB Research Methods Shared Interest Group \nPoint of Contact: Roberta Aguzzoli (roberta.aguzzoli@durham.ac.uk) \nEvent Recording Access: Current AIB members will be able to access a recording of this event in the “AIB Video Archive” section of our login portal. New webinar recordings are typically posted within five business days of the original event date. \n\nEvent Overview: Archival research provides a powerful avenue for advancing international business (IB) scholarship by revealing hidden or overlooked aspects of global operations\, including marginalized voices\, covert strategies\, historical motivations for foreign direct investment\, and organizational responses to past global crises -thereby enabling contextualization. \nArchives offer rich temporal\, cultural\, institutional\, and geographic insights that support an emic understanding of IB phenomena\, trace their evolution\, and reveal underlying path dependencies. At a time when methodological diversity in IB is declining\, archival research broadens the methodological toolkit and enables scholars to address complex or sensitive questions that are difficult to investigate using other approaches. Yet archives remain poorly understood\, frequently misconceived as secondary data or conflated with general documentary collections. The purpose of this seminar is therefore to clarify what constitutes an archive\, address common misconceptions surrounding archival research\, and illustrate how theorizing can be developed from archival materials. \nBy acknowledging both the agency of archivists and the constructed nature of archives\, IB researchers can pursue two complementary pathways: engaging directly with primary archival sources or synthesizing existing historical accounts while remaining attentive to narrative construction and interpretive limitations. Together\, these insights demonstrate how archival research can substantially enrich IB scholarship by illuminating context\, complexity\, and phenomena that would otherwise remain inaccessible. \n\nPRESENTERS \nStephanie Decker is Professor of Strategy at Birmingham Business School and holds prestigious fellowships of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) and the British Academy of Management (BAM). SUMMARY:AIB Webinar: International Business Master Programmes in the UK and Ireland – A Panel Discussion of Findings from the AIB UK&I 2025/26 Mapping Study
DESCRIPTION:register now\n\nDate & Time: 5 February 2026\, 13:30 UTC (View Local Time) \nHosts: AIB United Kingdom & Ireland Chapter and AIB Teaching & Education Shared Interest Group \nPoint of Contact: Stefan Zagelmeyer (S.Zagelmeyer@manchester.ac.uk) \n\nEvent Overview: Master’s programs in International Business (IB) and International Management (IM) are a central part of postgraduate provision. What is missing is a sector-wide baseline that allows educators and leaders to compare how programs are structured and what they claim to deliver when they invoke “innovation”\, “employability”\, or “responsible management education”. \nThis webinar shares headline findings from the AIB UK&I 2025/26 Mapping Study: a systematic review of 180 MSc IB/IM programs across 113 institutions\, based on publicly available program documentation and a structured coding approach. It provides a sector-wide baseline on programme structures\, curriculum configurations\, capstone formats\, admissions positioning\, and fee models. \nAs author of the report\, Dr Stefan Zagelmeyer will summarize the main patterns and outline implications for multiple stakeholders\, including prospective students\, program directors\, instructors\, teaching and learning leaders\, and those responsible for PGT portfolio strategy. The panel will then critically discuss what the evidence implies for program design and differentiation within a constrained one-year format\, including: \n–Where can meaningful differentiation be achieved without sacrificing coherence?\n–When does sustainability integration become assessable learning rather than signalling?\n–What is gained—and what is lost—when dissertations are replaced by consultancy-style capstones?\n–How defensible and sustainable are current fee levels\, and what risks follow from international demand volatility? \nThe session is designed as a guided\, interactive discussion with substantial time for audience questions and debate\, aiming to leave participants with a small set of actionable takeaways for curriculum and program design. \n\nMODERATOR AND PRESENTER \nStefan Zagelmeyer (Alliance Manchester Business School\, UK) is a Reader in Comparative and International Business at the University of Manchester (Alliance Manchester Business School). He serves as the Teaching and Education Representative on the executive board of AIB UK&I and is Programme Director for the MSc International Business and Management at AMBS. He is the author of the AIB UK&I 2025/26 Mapping Study. The full report is available for download here. \nPANELISTS AND DISCUSSANTS \nNoemi Sinkovics (Newcastle University Business School\, UK) is Professor of Sustainable and Responsible Business and Associate Dean (Ethics\, Responsibility and Sustainability) at Newcastle University Business School\, UK\, and Chair of the Executive Board of the AIB UK & Ireland Chapter. Her research examines how firms balance social\, environmental\, and economic objectives. She is Senior Associate Editor of the European Management Journal and Associate Editor of Critical Perspectives on International Business. \nDavide Castellani (Henley Business School\, UK) is Head of International Business and Strategy and Professor of International Business at Henley Business School\, University of Reading (UK)\, and a former Chair of the Executive Board of the AIB UK & Ireland Chapter. SUMMARY:AIB SIG Webinar: Inequality and the Sustainable Development Goals
DESCRIPTION:register now\n\nDate & Time: 30 January 2026\, 12:00 UTC (View Local Time) \nPoint of Contact: Bin Liu (binliu@xmu.edu.cn) \nHost Organizations: Emerging Markets Shared Interest Group\, Sustainability Shared Interest Group\, and Women in the Academy of International Business \nEvent Recording Access: Current AIB members will be able to access a recording of this event in the “AIB Video Archive” section of our login portal. New webinar recordings are typically posted within five business days of the original event date. \n\nEvent Overview: Inequality is about the state of not being equal\, especially in status\, rights\, and opportunities. It encompasses multiple dimensions such as economic disparities (e.g.\, income and wealth inequality)\, social and legal exclusion (e.g.\, discrimination)\, and opportunity gaps driven by demographic characteristics (e.g.\, ethnicity\, gender\, and religion). \nIn this webinar\, each panelist will provide a brief research update (15 mins each) related to topics about inequalities in race\, gender\, etc. Topics will reflect panelists’ ongoing research or work with flexibility to highlight key trends\, case studies\, or regional insights. Panelists will facilitate breakout sessions\, centering on their topics. \n\nAbout this Event Series: This webinar is presented as the first in a series titled “Imagining a Way Forward” organized by AIB’s Emerging Markets Shared Interest Group in collaboration with the Sustainability Shared Interest Group and Women in the Academy of International Business (WAIB). This series is being planned as a set of events framed by free-flowing conversations\, engaged in imagining how businesses\, governments and society should interact to create a truly sustainable\, equitable\, secure\, and safe future. The underlying premise of these conversations is that the way businesses\, governments\, and society have been interacting is not sufficient to handle the geopolitical and environmental challenges facing them. This series explores how business\, government and societies can collaborate and shape a future that is truly sustainable and equitable. Rather than fixed presentations\, these webinars are open\, adaptive dialogues designed to surface diverse perspectives\, bold ideas\, and collaborative energy. Set against the dynamic backdrop of emerging markets\, each session brings together a global community of practitioners\, policy-makers\, and academics to challenge assumptions and co-create new pathways forward.  \n\nPANELISTS \nLutz Preuss is a Professor in Strategic Management at Kedge Business School. SUMMARY:AIB Webinar: How to be an Effective Reviewer for IB Conferences and Journals
DESCRIPTION:register now\n\nDate & Time: 19 January 2026\, 12:00 UTC (View Local Time) \nPoint of Contact: Sjoerd Beugelsdijk (2026chair@aib.msu.edu) \nEvent Recording Access: Current AIB members will be able to access a recording of this event in the “AIB Video Archive” section of our login portal. New webinar recordings are typically posted within five business days of the original event date. \n\nEvent Overview: One of the most important tasks for a scholar is to provide feedback to peers by reviewing conference submissions and journal articles. Although guidelines are available\, people who are new to reviewing or who seek to refine their reviewing skills may still have questions such as ‘How do you learn how to write an effective review? What is the difference between reviewing for a conference versus for a journal? What does a constructive review mean\, and how do you write one? What are common mistakes that reviewers make? What are the differences between reviewing a quantitative paper versus a qualitative paper? What can you learn from reviewing that benefits your own work and navigation of the publishing process? What ethical issues can arise during the review process?’ \nTo address these questions and more\, AIB will be running a reviewing webinar\, during which current/former senior editors\, researchers who have won best reviewer awards\, and conference track/program chairs will provide tips and best practices for reviewing. This webinar is timed to coincide with papers for the AIB annual meeting being sent out for review. They are a great introduction for IB scholars who are new to reviewing\, as well as those who want to benefit from the experience of those with considerable knowledge of the publication process. \n\nPANELISTS \nSjoerd Beugelsdijk is J. Willis Cantey Professor of International Business at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
