About Mary Teagarden

Dr. Mary B. Teagarden is Associate Dean of Faculty and Administration and Professor of Global Strategy at Thunderbird School of Global Management. Mary is editor-in-chief of Thunderbird International Business Review and an editor of the Journal of International Business Studies. She is recognized in academic, corporate and government sectors for her teaching, executive training and consulting. As an international consultant, Mary had advised technology-intensive manufacturing and service firms in China, India, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil and the United States.

Dr. Teagarden received her Ph.D. in Global Strategic Management from the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on global competitiveness and capability building with an emphasis on offshoring, innovation dynamics, value creation, and talent acquisition and development. Mary has published more than 135 articles, books, chapters, and case studies in Harvard Business ReviewSloan Management ReviewJournal of World BusinessAcademy of Management JournalHuman Resource Management and Organizational Dynamics among others.

Dr. Teagarden has taught or consulted with over sixty public and private sector international organizations. She has appeared in top media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox Business, CCTV, ABC, NBC, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune, Harvard Business School Working Knowledge, CIO and IEEE Spectrum. Mary serves on the American University of Rome Board of Trustees; Arhaus University School of Business and Engineering Board of Advisors; and the University of San Francisco’s China Business Studies Initiative Advisory Board. Mary describes herself as an applied teacher/scholar.
