In only its fourth year of publication, the Journal of International Business Policy has recently been added to the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) by Clarivate’s Web of Science. JIBP‘s inclusion in the ESCI is a quality marker for “editorial rigor and best practice at a journal level” – and also an important milestone on the way to being added to the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and receiving an impact factor.
Web of Science follows a unique process for adding journals to their indexes, considering “24 quality criteria designed to select for editorial rigour and best practice at the journal level, and four impact criteria designed to select the most influential journals in their respective fields using citation activity as the primary indicator of impact.” The ESCI contains journals from any discipline that meet the quality criteria, after which journals can be further evaluated on the impact criteria and then be added to the SSCI (for social sciences journals).
Congratulations and thanks to the JIBP team, headed by Editor-in-Chief Sarianna Lundan and Deputy Editor Ari Van Assche, for their hard work in getting JIBP off the ground and publishing high-quality issues leading to this milestone for a new journal.
